Wash Your Hands

Did you know the best way to stay safe at this time is to wash your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. Washing your hands correctly (or using an alcohol-based hand rub) is the most effective thing you can do to protect yourself against a number of infectious diseases, such as influenza (the “flu”) and the common cold. Not only will it help keep you healthy, it will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases to others.  Follow the link above to see a video of proper hand washing Technique. This is the safest and most effective way to wash germs off your hands.

Lathering and scrubbing hands creates friction, which helps lift dirt, grease, and microbes from skin.  Microbes are present on all surfaces of the hand, often in particularly high concentration under the nails, so the entire hand should be scrubbed. Many countries and global organizations have adopted recommendations to wash hands for about 20 seconds, so it is best to follow recommendations.

Proper hygiene is ultimate way to prevent the spread of viruses.  Hand sanitiser is another way to clean your hands when you don’t have access to water and soap.  You still need to rub your hands and let them air dry.

Stay Safe Everyone, in this time of uncertainty it is good to check on your family and friends to make sure everyone is ok and do not feel alone. Being isolated can affect everyone differently. A quick phone call could make all the difference in someone else’s day, so take the time and call someone.
